In 2023, the Darien Lions were successful in their goal of collecting 500 pounds of thin film plastic for the NexTrex Plastic Film Recycling Challenge. This program has prevented 40,500 plastic bags from going into our landfill. The program has had such a great community response throughout the US that they have upped the challenge. Beginning this year, 2024, we will need to collect 1,000 pounds. Our drop-off locations for recycling are at The Coastal Market and Piggly Wiggly in McIntosh County.
